From Tyckled Tales: Planning for Parenthood and Using the Tyckled Baby List

Nov 8, 2012

tyckledtales_introGuest post by Karen of Tyckled Tales

In my last Q&A on The Playroom, I spoke a little about The Tyckled Baby List, and I thought I’d spend more time talking about how to use it.

Let’s just first paint a common scenario.

You’re pregnant. Hooray!

Everyone is happy, you’re excited, and then it’s time to prepare.

You realize that now you have to buy a lot of “stuff” a.k.a. baby products.  Strollers, car seats, cribs, gliders, breast pumps, baby monitor, and the list goes on . . . and on. And then it hits you. “Do I buy this all now???? Crap. Where do I start?”

When I started helping my pregnant friend Julia research what baby products she needed, this is exactly what I went through, except I sort of had a freak out along the way too. But trust me, that won’t happen to you if you use The Tyckled Baby List!

I basically spoke with moms and realized there are strategies and tips on how to tackle this daunting task, and I created The Tyckled Baby List with each of their feedback in mind. I’ll walk you through each of them today. (continue reading)

From Tyckled Tales: Easy Photo Sharing with Beamr

Oct 31, 2012

tyckledtales_introGuest post by Karen of Tyckled Tales

Happy Halloween everyone!

I’m sure with this past early Halloween weekend and today being actual Halloween, many of you have captured a ton of photos with your cameras already. . . and there’s still a lot more for trick or treating tonight!

Babies and kids in Halloween costumes are just cute overload, so how could you not snap every moment, right?

After you’ve taken all those photos, how you share them becomes the question. I thought today’s post would be perfect to share a new app I’ve discovered you can use to for your Halloween photos (and then some!) with friends and family.

I am an iPhone loyalist, so I’ve recently come across the iPhone app Beamr that JUST launched earlier this week on Monday.

Beamr lets you easily share full-resolution iPhone photos as a glossy-style magazine with a custom cover using just a few taps!

I’ll bet that most of you have iPhones and heavily rely on your iPhone camera to take pictures on the go. And after you take a picture, you’ll likely upload to Facebook, Instagram, and other social networks to share with friends and family.

BUT I am sure most of you didn’t realize that whenever you use photo-sharing tools and applications, the quality of your photos is reduced.

For example, the quality of your photo is reduced 90% when you upload a photo from your iPhone to Facebook, and if your family wants to download the photo from Facebook to print… it just won’t look as good. However, with Beamr, those photos can easily be shared with family and friends via email, Facebook, or Twitter, without ever sacrificing the image quality. (continue reading)

What’s New: F&B, DV, MDB!

Oct 26, 2012

Good afternoon! Today, the team is sharing our new crib designs from our Franklin & Ben, DaVinci Baby and Million Dollar Baby brands. We have some gorgeous new products and are so excited to dish! First up is Franklin & Ben. Above, we have the Arlington 4-in-1 Crib. Different from the Arlington 3-in-1 Crib, the new version can convert into a full-size bed once baby is ready. Below is the brand’s Mason 4-in-1 Crib. Last year, we launched the Mason Collection (designed by celebrity designer Jennifer Delonge) in Weathered Grey. This year, the collection is also available in White.

Onto DaVinci Baby! Though we introduced the brand’s Highland Collection in our 2013 Nursery Trends post, it doesn’t hurt to show it again! Our whole team is madly in love with the Highland’s cool Mid-Century Mod vibe . . . we hope you are, too!

Meet Laurel. DaVinci Baby’s Laurel Crib and Changer Dresser is a new collection that will be available for purchase in 2013. Classic and clean, this collection will blend seamlessly with almost any nursery decor.

The Summit 3-in-1 Crib has beautiful clean lines and comes in Espresso and White. A great start for any color combo you envision.

Next up is the Million Dollar Baby brand! The Louis 4-in-1 Crib stole everyone’s hearts with the beautiful lines and classic finish. This piece will be with your baby from crib to full sized bed.

The Clermont 4-in-1 Crib has beautiful curves and looks just so inviting.

The Foothill 4-in-1 Crib, shown here in weathered grey, is also available in espresso, below. This is an adorable option for any nursery. That’s our roundup of the latest and greatest making their debut at the ABC show in Louisville, Kentucky. I know you can’t wait until they’re released to the public. We sure can’t!
