Uptown Girl

Jul 31, 2012

Tamara Kaye-Honey, designer of Nurseryworks’ Uptown Collection, was recently selected to create a nursery for the 2012 Hampton Designer Showhouse. We’ve seen all sorts of nurseries, but never one like this. Featuring elements of gold, sequins and brass, wallpaper by Portland-based makelike, and Nurseryworks’ Uptown Crib and Changer as well as the Vetro Rocker, it’s truly breathtaking!

Count on Fred Flare to stock the cutest outlet covers known to man! GamaGo’s Ouchlet Outlet Cover retails for $6 and includes a set of four. Needless to say, we’re stocking up. What better way to teach your kids that outlets = ouch! than by covering them with a band aid?

Our Newest Addition!

Jul 25, 2012

We’re proud to introduce Nurseryworks’ newest addition, the Loom Dresser Changer! It’s the beautiful sister piece of Nurseryworks’ Loom Crib, a tried-and-true celebrity favorite. The Dresser Changer features a removable changing tray, thus rendering this piece something you’ll enjoy long after your child’s nursery years. What do you think? Perhaps we’re a bit biased, but our team couldn’t stop staring during today’s photo shoot. Available in Winter 2012, we have a feeling it’ll be very popular : )

Madderson London

Jul 23, 2012

Madderson London, a glamorous maternity fashion collection launching in September 2012, was created as a result of founder Sara Madderon’s own experience with maternity clothes. While pregnant with her first child, Sara couldn’t find clothing that was both polished enough for her high-powered position in finance and chic enough for post-work social events. She owned several black maternity basics, but realized that one can only accessorize these pieces so far. Sara craved “wow” factor maternity clothing and simply wasn’t finding it.

What did she do next? She launched her own fashion line, of course! Pregnant or not, Madderson London is a line we all want to wear. It’s premiere collection, featuring rich colors and simple silhouettes, is like nothing we’ve ever seen in the land of Maternity clothing. Which brings us back to the old saying, “If you want something done right, do it yourself!” To view Madderson London’s Autumn/Winter ’12 look book, see here.

Salute Your Shorts

Jul 19, 2012

We can’t think of anything cuter than a little tyke toddling poolside in these darling swim trunks! As with anything carried by London’s famed Selfridges department store, they’re très fashionable. (Don’t those car-print shorts remind you of Prada’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection?) We hope MC2 Saint Barth will be creating more pieces in these cheeky designs for Summer 2013… A Royal British Guard beach bag would be quite the hit among us girls in the office!

P.S.! Find the pieces above here and here.

Moms We Love: Arlene

Jul 18, 2012

Good Morning! Today, we’re thrilled to introduce Moms We Love, a new weekly interview series featuring our favorite chic mamas. We’re beginning with Arlene Lee, a beautiful mom-to-be and one of Million Dollar Baby’s fabulous Corporate Account Managers. Read on to discover which collection Arlene ordered for her nursery, the maternity jeans she swears by and more!

What will you be naming your new baby? Olivia (Korean Middle Name is TBD) Lee

When are you due? September 6… It’s so soon!!

Which nursery collection did you order for Olivia? Babyletto’s Hudson 3-in-1 Convertible Crib & Hudson Dresser Changer in White! I couldn’t resist on adding the Spruce Tree Bookcase.

What is it about this crib that you love? Modern, Simple and I LOVE the feet!

Have you made a decision on bedding? Yes! We’re going with Ollie & Lime’s Logan Collection without the bumper.
Let’s talk about a little about maternity… Any great clothing lines or pieces you’d recommend? William Rast’s Maternity Jeans – I’ve never had jeans so comfortable (and figure flattering!). Look for sales at A Pea In The Pod.

Favorite pregnancy/parenting books/blogs ? BabyCenter’s weekly emails and What To Expect When You’re ExpectingI learned VERY early that too much info is FRIGHTENING and quite daunting!  So I keep it to a minimum : )

As for Olivia, which children’s books are you most excited to read to her? The Children’s Bible, Love You Forever and The Giving Tree.
Have you been playing music for your baby? Not directly playing music for Olivia on the belly…I can’t help but to feel bad if she’s hating in there or that’s it’s too loud! I know… I’m a bit crazy!

Lastly, we’d love to know your choice of…

Stroller? Uppababy Vista 2012 Mica! After my nursery furniture, it’s the one item I’m MOST excited about!

Car seat?  Chicco KeyFit 30 – Not the cutest design but rated the best in safety… how can I go with anything else?

Baby monitor? Angelcare AC1100 – The Ultimate Digital Baby Monitor w/ Video, Sound & Movement…I know it’s over-the-top but worth my “First Time Mother” peace of mind ; )

Diaper bag? Lululemon Triumph Tote Bag – not the typical Diaper Bag… but better!!!
High chair?  EvenFlo Modern 300… it seems to have all the features of the expensive high chairs but is reasonably priced.

Thanks, Arlene!
We can’t wait to meet baby Olivia : )

A Good Thing: Serena & Lily Paint

Jul 17, 2012

It goes without question that new parents want to create the safest possible nursery for their new addition. You’ve purchased a JPMA-certified crib, you’ve baby-proofed the space to the umpteenth degree… but have you given thought to the type of paint used in baby’s new room? Experts recommend using Low VOC, Zero VOC or natural paint choices. Interior paint high in VOC can cause some pretty scary side effects!

Never fear. In this environmentally-friendly day in age, Low VOC, Zero VOC and natural paints available at retailers across the country. A people.com exclusive reports that new mom Molly Sims chose to paint her nursery in Valspar’s Zen Garden, a Zero VOC paint. Other readily-available options include the Serena & Lily line of paint (low VOC) and Harmony by Sherwin-Williams (zero VOC).
